Manoli Dreller slowly and confidently walked toward the center stage of the church reunion in Argentina, taking her time to place one foot after the other, safely on the brown tiles, as if time was hers to own. Measuring at least 5 feet, she wore a light blue dress that reached to her ankles, and a white wool sweater that gave the impression that snow white was in the midst of the congregation. Her dark curls hung loose from her head, and I could realize from her light complexion that she was not a fan of out door life.
Manoli did not wear makeup very often, except on very special occasions, and today was the first time she would lead the church band. She wore a little eye shadow here and there, and some soft pink lip-gloss. When she arrived on center stage, Manoli impudently planted her feet in front of the pulpit and reached for the microphone. She picked it up with her frail fingers as if it was an expensive piece of jewelry. Signaling the musicians with a nod of her head, Manoli began singing with much passion, waving her arms in the air as if she was the leader of an orchestra!
